Biography

Conn Holohan is Course Director of the BA in Film & Digital Media and a lecturer in film and media studies. He is a graduate of Dublin City University and completed his PhD on contemporary Irish and Spanish cinema at Ulster University. His research focuses on space and place in European and Hollywood cinema, and his publications include the monograph Cinema on the Periphery: Contemporary Irish and Spanish Cinema as well as a number of journal articles and book chapters on space and place in Hollywood and European cinema. He has also published on the film theory of Gilles Deleuze as well as several articles on the short film. His current research explores the home space in 1930s and 1940s Hollywood melodrama.

Dr Holohan is also lead researcher on The Home Project, an Irish Research Council funded community project which brings experienced filmmakers together with community groups to enable participants explore their relationship to home through the medium of film.
