Strategic Focus Areas

The Institute has six interconnected themes of strategic focus. Each theme is addressed through the ILAS work strands of research, community engagement, policy, and practice and education, and together they signify the shared interests of the ILAS constituent centres and units in the life course.

Our capacity to effectively engage with these themes in a comprehensive manner is realised through the pooled interdisciplinary expertise of all ILAS centres and units.

The Institute aims to advance people’s lives in Ireland and internationally who face issues with older life, living with disability, children, youth and parents who are vulnerable in social and other contexts. The research at the Institute is underpinned by academic staff and researchers who are keen the work we do makes a difference.
