Unit for Natural Language Processing
The Unit for Natural Language Processing (UNLP) at the Data Science Institute of the University of Galway develops methods for the efficient application of NLP approaches in real-life use cases. UNLP is funded by Science Foundation Ireland through grants for the Insight SFI Research Centre for Data Analytics and the SFI Centre for Research Training in AI, as well as by the EU, Enterprise Ireland and industry. Our research has a focus on areas such as knowledge extraction
from text, social media analysis, machine translation and AI for good as well as data-to-text generation and causal reasoning in text. Our demonstrator system Saffron provides a readily available tool for knowledge graph extraction from text, which has been developed in the context of industry use cases on enterprise knowledge graphs in collaboration with large enterprises such as Fidelity and Huawei.
