Biography

Catherine Meagher is a Lecturer at the School of Nursing and Midwifery, National University of Ireland, Galway.  She is the programme director, for  Masters in Nursing (Advanced Practice ) and Certificate in Nurse/Midwife Prescribing. She co-manages in collaboration with colleagues from SAOLTA a bi annual symposium on Nurse/Midwife Prescribing. This symposium meets the Continuing Professional Development Requirements for registered prescribers and has NMBI Category 1 approval. She is a member of the Consortium (UCD, TCD, UCC, NUIGalway) which successfully tendered for  Advanced Practice in Nursing (2017-2019)  and nurse prescribing programme (2016-2019). She works with ADON/ Site Co ordinators in managing submission of draft Collaborative Practice Agreement. Catherine teaches, across all programme levels from fundamental skills on Bachelor of Nursing degree programme (e.g. Safe administration of medication, instructor of Basic Life Support, infection control,study skills  ) through to advanced topics on postgraduate programmes (e.g. Nurse/Midwife Prescribing, Cardiac Nursing Management.  She is a member of the Irish Practice Nurses Association (IPNA),
