Step-by-Step Guide for Making the Most of on-campus visits or events

Maximise Your Engagement - As part of your employer package with the University of Galway's Career Development Centre Fair (CDC), follow this simple guide to maximise your engagement before, during, and after the event.

Important Reminder: Companies should finalise and submit all job ads and promotional materials before the eventfor maximum visibility and interaction. Students will start looking into who is attending campus on CONNECT Be seen! 


Step 1: Preparation Before the Event

1. Advertise Your Roles on Careers Connect, for FREE

  • On CONNECT, upload your graduate programmes, internships, and other vacancies before the event
  • Include job descriptions, application details, and clear deadlines.
  • Mention you will be available on-site for information on the day of the event for increased visibility to students.
2. Enhance the Student Experience with Brand Activations
We offer space for interactive brand activations onsite, If you are interested in organising activities such as giveaways, please contact Brid Connolly at 087 6316451.
3. Prepare Your Team
Ensure your team is well-briefed on key talking points, including details about your company, available roles, and why graduates should consider applying.

Step 2: On the Day of the Event

1. Arrive Early to Set Up Your Stand (or get briefed by staff for a panel event)
Arrive at least 30 minutes before the event starts to be prepared.
2. Showcase Your Organisation
Make use of branded materials (banners, brochures, business cards). Include QR codes that link directly to your Careers Connect listings or application pages.

3. Engage with Students
Talk to students about the roles on offer, your company’s culture, and the key skills you are seeking. Offer advice on CVs and applications to make your stand approachable and valuable.

Step 3: After the Event

1. Follow Up with Candidates
Reach out to candidates you met via email or LinkedIn. Encourage the best candidates to formally apply for your roles.
2. Continue Posting Opportunities
Keep using Careers Connect to post roles throughout the year.
3. Use On-Campus Interview Rooms
Book interview pods (via employers@universityofgalway.ie) for private follow-up discussions with top candidates after the fair.

By following these steps, you’ll enhance your graduate talent pipeline and ensure strong visibility among the University of Galway’s top students.

The University of Galway Career Development Centre would like to remind all attendees that we are unable to cover any clamping fines incurred. Please ensure you park responsibly and adhere to the parking regulations on campus.


Parking Permit at the University of Galway Campus:

Each Exhibitor is entitled to avail of two parking permits for their organisation. 

Parking Permits have been arranged to facilitate access to the Park & Ride Car Park. These can only be used in the Park & Ride Car Park. Please ensure to park in white line spaces only. Due to parking limitations on our University campus, we recommend arriving on campus early to secure a parking spot. Please be aware third third-party Apcoa clamping is in operation on the University Grounds. 

Follow these 5 simple steps to secure your virtual parking permit for this event: 

  • Step 1: Create a Personal Account on the University's parking website (using the vehicle registration number of the car you will be using on the day of the event) https://nuig.apcoa.ie/app/create-account/
  • Step 2: Log in to your Apcoa account (using your chosen username and password).
  • Step 3: On the Day Only Select and apply for the relevant date and University of Galway conference permit here 
  • Step 4: Park in the white-lined parking spaces only in the Park & Ride between the hours 08:30-17:30. Reference location 42 on our campus parking map for directions to this carpark. Eircode: H91 EW40.
  • Step 5: Use the Park & Ride Bus Service to the Orbsen Building.  See the bus timetable here.

Pay & Display at the University of Galway Campus 

Exhibitors can also use Pay & Display spaces (if available) which are located in all Car Parks on campus – you will need to park in spaces marked with blue lines and purchase a Pay & Display disc via the Apcoa Parking website or by downloading the app – apcoaconnect – to pay by phone. Parking map available here. Please be aware clamping is in operation on University Grounds. Please be aware third third-party Apcoa clamping is in operation on the University Grounds. 


Parking at the Galway Cathedral

The Cathedral is located on the west bank of the River Corrib, a little north and west of the city centre, 5-minutes walk from the University Campus

Opening Hours
The Cathedral is usually open from 08:30 until 18:30 - these times are approximate. On certain days, such as Christmas day, the Cathedral may close earlier.
Parking
Parking is available in the Cathedral grounds, open 24 hours. Parking is pay-per-hour Monday-Saturday and free on Sundays. An attendant is present Monday-Saturday between 08:30 and 18:45. The City Council operates a pay-per-day car park in Cathedral Square, immediately to the south of the Cathedral.

Your Exhibition Space 

The exhibition space for this event will be located in the Bank of Ireland Foyer, University of Galway Concourse. Your stand allocation will be available on arrival at the event.

Exhibition Stand Specifications

Please note that the floor area for all exhibition spaces (stands) measures approximately 2m x 3m. Each stand will be equipped with:

  • A trestle table (dimensions 1.8m x 0.75m)
  • Tablecloth
  • Two chairs

Alumni Insights Stand Specifications 

You will have a small round tall table, no seating. (Seating is available nearby, if required) 

Insurance Cover

Mandatory for all exhibitors

All exhibitors must provide written evidence that they have the requisite Employers Liability (€13m) and Public Liability (€6.5m) insurance cover in place to exhibit at this event. We will also require written confirmation that the University of Galway has been indemnified on your associated public liability policy.

Your last chance to submit copies of your policy documentation is 3 pm, Tuesday  14th February. Failure to provide this evidence by the aforementioned deadline may result in your booking for this event being cancelled.
