CHARMS
In collaboration with
Welcome to the website for the Cardiac Health and Assessment of Relationship Management and Sexuality (CHARMS) study.
The CHARMS study is focused on improving sexual health among people living with cardiovascular disease in Ireland. Sexual health can be a particular concern for people with cardiovascular disease, and issues related to sexual health can negatively impact on quality of life and relationship satisfaction.
Although cardiac rehabilitation guidelines highlight sexual counselling as an important part of cardiac rehabilitation, Irish and international research indicates that it is rarely provided. However, when asked, most people attending cardiac rehabilitation want to receive support in this area. The CHARMS study aims to address this problem by improving the sexual health care provided during cardiac rehabilitation.
You can find more information about the CHARMS study through this website, and you can also contact the project manager for more information.
