Last week, staff and students from the UNESCO Child & Family Research Centre, School of Political Science & Sociology, participated in an Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programme (BIP), Mentoring for Social Inclusion, hosted by NHL Stenden University in The Netherlands. The programme brought together 30 students from 6 Higher Education Institutions across Europe for a week-long series of workshops, lectures, and discussions on the topic of social mentoring in Europe.
Dr Bernadine Brady and Dr Charlotte Silke both taught on the programme and students, Oliver Foley McDermott, Katie Semler and Ciarán Lynch (BA Community, Youth & Family studies) and Michelle Clifford (BSc Social Sciences) participated fully in the week-long activities.
The BIP was organised as part of the Mentoring for Social Inclusion in Europe: Sharing Knowledge and Building Capacity #Ment4EU project. This three-year project aims to ensure that higher education can keep abreast of the growing significance of social mentoring in policy and practice across nations. #Ment4EU is funded by Erasmus+ and led by a consortium of universities from Austria, Belgium, Ireland, the Netherlands and Spain.
