Research Ireland Government of Ireland Postgraduate Scholarships
We are delighted to announce that two of our PhD Candidates have been awarded Research Ireland Government of Ireland Postgraduate Scholarships in the most recent round of applications.
Grace Barnes is supervised by Professor Eilionóir Flynn at the Centre for Disability Law and Policy. Grace is researching the operation of disability, gender and sexual stereotypes in European human rights law. She is examining case-judgments from the European Court of Human Rights and is focusing on how stereotypes shape disabled women’s access to sexual rights and their understandings of their own identities.
Amanie Issa is jointly based at the Centre for Disability Law and Policy, and the Irish Centre for Human Rights. She is supervised by Professor Eilionóir Flynn and Dr. Edel Hughes. Amanie is researching gender and disability within the framework of settler colonialism, using Palestine as a case study. She particularly focuses on the experiences of disabled Palestinian women, examining how intersecting forms of gendered and ableist violence are produced within settler colonial structures, and how these shape their relationship to land, body, and everyday life.
Congratulations to you both and best of luck with your research!
