CDLP Team present at Oireachtas Joint Committee on Disability Matters
Professor Eilionóir Flynn and Dr Clíona de Bhailís appeared before the Oireachtas Joint Committee on Disability Matters regarding the General Scheme of the Disability (Amendment) Bill 2025 on Wednesday 4th March 2026.
The proposals in the Amendment Bill 2025 cover the assessment of need process under the Disability Act 2005. The CDLP's statement highlighted how the proposed amendments do not in fact bring Ireland in closer alignment with the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and what changes would be required to achieve this and ensure disabled people's needs are met.
