Dr Leo Quinlan

Dr Leo Quinlan is a Principal Investigator in Human Physiology at University of Galway and Funded Investigator in the SFI CÚRAM Centre for Research in Medical Devices, University of Galway. 

Leo graduated with a BSc in Biochemistry and a PhD in Stem Cell biology from University of Galway. He worked as apostdoctoral researcher and trained at the Welcome Trust funded, Cellular Physiology Research Unit (CPRU) in University College Cork under Prof. Brain Harvey. He carried out postdoctoral training in electrophysiology at the August Krogh Institute, University of Copenhagen Denmark. 

 
He has been a lecturer in Physiology at University of Galway since 1999,and his research interests focus on the interface between human physiology and medical device development with a particular emphasis on electrophysiology and neuromodulation. He has supervised six PhD students to graduation, and has published over 30 international peer-reviewed journal papers. 
 

Dr Quinlan is a member of a number of professional societies including the Physiological Society, Royal Academy of Medicine in Ireland and the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) Medicine and biology.
