Dr Brian Deegan

Dr Brian Deegan

Lecturer, Researcher, Electrical & Electronic Engineering, University of Galway

Brian received a Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Limerick in 2004 and an MSc in Biomedical Engineering from the same university in 2005.

Brian earned a PhD in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Galway in 2011, focusing on the relationship between blood pressure and cerebral blood flow in humans. His work includes several journal publications, a patent, and numerous conference presentations. For over ten years thereafter, he worked at Valeo Vision Systems as a Vision Research Engineer specializing in image quality, high dynamic range imaging, LED flicker, and machine vision. He holds multiple patents and has been an official Valeo Expert on Image Quality since 2014.  He has multiple patents relating to automotive image quality, and has presented at various conferences.  

 In 2022, he joined the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at University of Galway as a Lecturer Below the Bar.
