What is it?

The Multi-Sensory Room at the University of Galway is managed by the Access Centre team and is designed to provide a safe space for students to self-regulate by adjusting their sensory environment. It is available for bookings below through an online booking system. 

The room is equipped with interactive and integrated lighting, visual, vibroacoustic and sound effects that create an immersive and customisable sensory experience. Soft furnishings and sensory stress-relieving items complete the experience, enabling you to feel regulated.

Where is the Multi-Sensory Room?

The Multi-Sensory Room is located in the Arts Millenium Building, which is in the centre of campus opposite the James Hardiman Library and adjacent to the Psychology Building. You can find the Multi-Sensory Room on the ground floor (AMB–G002), to the left as you enter the building.

How do you book the space?

Please ensure that to use your University of Galway email address when signing up to book the multi-sensory room. Booking duration is 45 minutes.

Follow these steps the first time you make your booking at https://portal.sportskey.com/venues/university-of-galway-student-services:

  • Create an account (you only need to do this once).
  • Register as a user of the multi-sensory room.
  • Once approved as a user, you can make bookings.
