2024 Innovative Engineering Solutions to Tackle Unmet Challenges in Osteosarcoma Treatment

Dr. Fiona Freeman is an Associate Professor and Ad Astra Fellow at University College Dublin’s Mechanical and Materials Engineering School. She earned her PhD in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Galway, specializing in bone tissue regeneration. She has held prestigious fellowships at institutions including MIT, Johns Hopkins, and Trinity College Dublin.
Dr. Freeman leads a multidisciplinary research group on developing novel osteosarcoma therapies, including patient-specific cancer models and smart drug delivery systems. She is an SFI and ERC Starter Grant awardee and an investigator at multiple research centres, including the Conway Institute, UCD Centre for Biomedical Engineering, and Trinity Centre for Biomedical Engineering.
