Professor Till Opatz studied Chemistry at the University of Frankfurt and finished his diploma (with Johann Mulzer) in 1997. In 2001, he obtained his Ph.D. with Horst Kunz. After a postdoc with Rob Liskamp in Utrecht/Netherlands, he started his independent research in Mainz in 2002, which led to his “habilitation” in 2006. He became Associate Professor in Hamburg in 2007 and Full Professor at the Institute of Organic Chemistry, Johannes Gutenberg-University in 2010.

His main research interests are heterocyclic chemistry, photochemistry, sustainable chemistry and the synthesis and structure elucidation of bioactive natural products.
