Our Vision

‌‌

CÚRAM's vision is to be a global leader in the creation and translation of clinic-ready and patient focused medical devices; to develop the next generation of industry-relevant, publicly engaged researchers and to become an anchor for industry applicable research.

Established in 2015, as a Science Foundation Ireland research centre, CÚRAM is now a world-leading Irish medical device research centre based out of University of Galway. We aim to be the 'go-to' Centre for undertaking medical device research. Our research focuses on understanding and treating global chronic diseases.

Our key strength lies in our ability to create unique, synergistic networks across academic, industry and clinical institutions.

While led by University of Galway, CÚRAM’s partner institutes include; University College Cork (UCC), University College Dublin (UCD), the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI), Trinity College Dublin (TCD), University of Limerick (UL), Dublin City University (DCU), National Institute for Bioprocessing Research and Training (NIBRT),  Technological University of the Shannon (TUS) and Technological University Dublin (TU Dublin).

We partner with local small-and-medium enterprises (SMEs), and multinational medical devices and pharmaceutical companies to increase employment in Ireland. The successful collaborative partnerships established through our industry research programme indicate the significant value generate for industry through collaboration with CÚRAM. Our researchers focus on bioengineering approaches for repair and remodelling, improved drug delivery solutions, and superior medical implant designs to treat chronic diseases.
