PREPARED
EU MSCA co-fund project 2025 - 2029 coordinated by the University of Galway
PREPARED is an exciting new project led by the Centre for Disability Law and Policy at the University of Galway which aims to support the next generation of disability rights postdoctoral researchers to respond to the most urgent global challenges of our time. As governments, development agencies and civil society struggle to respond to challenges such as the climate crisis, the refugee crisis and the covid-19 pandemic, disabled people are often left behind. PREPARED will equip postdoctoral researchers to address these global challenges by offering opportunities within leading global interdisciplinary research teams, and embedding researchers where they are most needed – in organisations outside academia where they can apply their research to real world problems, ensuring maximum societal impact.
We will be recruiting a total of 6 postdoctoral researchers between 2025-2029. Recruitment will occur in two phases – 3 postdoctoral researchers will be recruited in 2025 and 3 further postdoctoral researchers in 2027. Each postdoctoral researcher will be employed on a 3 year contract. Applicants must select one of the following organisations to be employed by at which they will carry out their postdoctoral research – the University of Galway, the University of Lisbon and Swiss Paraplegic Research. Postdoctoral researchers must not have been resident in the country they are applying to be employed in for more than 12 months in the previous 3 years.
Before applying, postdoctoral researchers must develop their own proposal which meets the aim of PREPARED – i.e. responds to an urgent global challenge in a disability-inclusive manner. Postdoctoral researchers must already have been awarded their PhD before applying to PREPARED and must make contact with a PREPARED supervisor to confirm that this project matches their area of expertise. Further information on eligibility and how to apply will be available soon.
