The start of University life marks a significant chapter, full of both opportunities and hurdles for first year students and their support networks. Understanding the University's support systems and structure will help you to guide your student in the right direction when they need assistance.

Below are a list of resources and services available to help students as they begin their exciting start at University.

Academic Skills Hub

Accommodation and Advisory Service

Offering support and guidance to students looking for accommodation in and around Galway. Find out more on this webpage

Financial Aid Fund

Available to assist students who are unable to meet costs associated with day-to-day participation in higher education throughout the duration of the academic year. Find out more on this webpage

Student Enquiry Centre (SEC)

The SEC is located in the heart of campus, just inside the doors of the Arts and Science Concourse. The team located there will be able to help answer or guide students on any queries they have. You can contact the SEC directly and they will be happy to help you and any queries you have over email or drop in to the SEC on the concourse for a quick chat.

Student Support Officers

Our Student Support Officers, based in each of the University’s colleges, are available for students to talk about personal, academic, financial, or other issues that may come up during their time at university. Click on this webpage to find out how the Student Support Officers can support students.

Tús Maith | Good Start

Tús Maith | Good Start is a year-long welcome programme designed to help first-year undergraduate students transition into university life. Through a wide range of resources, workshops, and events, the programme guides and supports students in making the most of their first year and building a strong foundation for their university journey.
