Nursing and Midwifery

Ellie has strong clinical background in mental health nursing in acute adult and acute dementia assessment unit and community care . She worked in a clinical nurse specialist capacity in older persons mental health for several years before joining the University of Galway in 2022. She is a registered nurse prescriber and has a special interest reducing mediation related harm in mental health through education and interprofessional collaboration. Ellie has experience working with people experiencing substance use and dual diagnosis .She has a postgraduate diploma in Nursing ( Dementia ), post graduate certification in CBT from Trinity College and a MSc in Public health from the School of Medicine University of Limerick .Since joining the mental health faculty in University of Galway she teaches across the undergraduate mental health programme and leads a module on dementia care at post graduate level .
