Public Lecture Series

The School of Nursing and Midwifery's Public Lecture Series aims to share knowledge and expertise on health matters with the local community. 

At the launch of the Public Lecture Series, former Head of School Dr Adeline Cooney said that this was an exciting departure for the School. 

"An important part of the role of nurses and midwives is to help people to live actuve and healthy lives. These sessions aim to provide the public with information and skills on getting and keeping healthy.

It is never easy to make lifestyle changes or live with a chronic illness so at these talks, we want to draw on community members' knowledge and experiences. These sessions will be interactive in nature, allowing full community engagement and we look forward to active and lively discussions and debates," Dr Cooney said. 

Our four Public Lecture Series events have been well-received by the community, with the last event attracting more than 150 people.
