Prof. Yan Yan Shery Huang is a Professor of Bioengineering, leading the Biointerface Group at the Department of Engineering, University of Cambridge, UK. Sherry completed her MEng degree in Materials Science and Engineering from Imperial College London and PhD in Physics (specialising in Biological & Soft Systems) from the University of Cambridge, UK. Shery is an Associate Editor of ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces and Bio-Design and Manufacturing

The impact of technology on life sciences and biomedicine has been remarkable, offering direct health and economic benefits. However, current life science discoveries and medical research can be resource-intensive, carbon-heavy, and ethically challenging, making them unsustainable in the long term.

This presentation will illustrate Shery's group’s research work on three themes:

  • Organ-on-a-chip, organoid, tumoroid bioassembly
  • 3D printing of soft and biological materials
  • Fibre bio-fabrication for wearable sensors and bioelectronics
