Dr Denis Dennehy

Biography

Denis Dennehy is a Lecturer in Business Information Systems in the School of Business & Economics and funded investigator at the Lero Research Centre for Software. His research primarily focuses on the mediating role of digital technologies and analytics, in the context of information systems and its implications for people, organisations, and society. His research has been published in top ranked journals including, International Journal of Operations & Production Management, European Journal of Operational Research, Information Systems Frontiers, Information & Management, IT & People, International Journal of Production Research, Government Information Quarterly, and the Project Management Journal. His research is informed through extensive engagement with organisations including Dell Technologies, Intel, Fexco, Leading Edge Group, Texuna, and Kepak Group.

He is a Senior Editor of Information Technology & People, is Guest Editor of numerous special issues, and Conference Chair of The 20th IFIP Conference e-Business, e-Services, and e-Society I3E2021, with a specific focus on 'Responsible AI and Analytics for an Ethical and Inclusive Digitised Society'. Previously he served as IoT Track Chair at IFIP WG8.6 Working Conference 2020 (India), Proceedings Chair for the Open Symposium on Open Collaboration (OpenSym 2017) and Associate Editor for ECIS and ICIS.

He is Director of the MSc (Business Analytics) programme, which received the inaugural Dean's Award for Inclusive Teaching (Team Award) in 2019. More recently, he was a recipient of the 2021 'Teaching Hero' award; a national award that recognises nominees for being innovative or inspiring teachers. He teaches innovation management, project management, agile methodologies, and systems analysis and design at postgraduate and undergraduate level. He is a Senior Fellow, University of Turku, Finland, and visiting academic at ICN Business School, France.
