Biography

Dr Joseph Byrne is a researcher in the School of Chemistry, currently working on an independent SFI-funded SIRG project to develop carbohydrate-based sensing materials as platforms for 3D-printed microfluidic diagnostic devices, with applications in clinical and environmental settings.

His interests are in carbohydrates, organic synthesis, luminescent sensors and coordination chemistry.

Research Interests

I am currently working on an independent SFI-funded SIRG project to develop carbohydrate-based sensing materials as platforms for 3D-printed microfluidic diagnostic devices, with applications in clinical and environmental settings. More generally, my interests are in carbohydrates, organic synthesis, luminescent sensors, functional materials, coordination chemistry and medical devices.
