Mature Students & Adult Learners Information Evening 2025 

The University of Galway Mature Students and Adult Learners Information Evening will take place on Wednesday, January 15th from 6.30pm until 9pm in the Institute for Lifecourse and Society (ILAS), Upper Newcastle Road, Galway. (H91 C7DK)

The in-person event is designed particularly for those aged 23 or over, who may be considering full-time or part-time studies for the 2025 academic year. 

Attendees will have the opportunity to discuss opportunities with current mature students and course experts to help them decide which options best suit their personal circumstances and professional development needs.

Welcome to the Access Centre Mature Students page. Here you will find advice on applying to University of Galway as a mature student, degrees that you can apply for, entry criteria, assessment procedures and essential information on finances and supports.

Successfully completing a degree at University of Galway is the first step to changing your career. Before contemplating the degree you wish to pursue there are a number of steps we recommend:

  1. Read the Mature Students Guide for information on criteria for all our degrees.
  2. Also read the Undergraduate Prospectus for a detailed explanation of the individual degrees and subjects.
  3. The  Postgraduate Website will give you information on what you can study next after your degree.
  4. If unsure whether a full-time degree is for you try a Foundation Course first or an Access Course.
  5. If unsure what Career you should pursue, try some careers tests at http://www.careerdirections.ie/
  6. Come to the University of Galway Open Days. To learn more, visit University of Galway Virtual Events.
  7. Apply through the CAO on time! Before 20 January for the online discount. All applications must be in before 1 February. http://www.cao.ie/
  8. Ensure you have registered correctly for any Entry Assessments as outlined in the Mature Students Guide.
  9. Complete your CAO application correctly ticking Mature. Do not be afraid to add all relevant experiences and courses you have participated in that has now lead you to wishing to pursue a degree.
  10. Having a clear career plan will keep you focused, motivated and determined.
