Biography

Agata Joanna Lagiewka has been at the National University of Ireland, Galway since 2017 where she is currently completing her PhD in the interdisciplinary programme Intercultural Cultural Studies. She is a graduate of the University of Vienna and Barcelona in German Studies, English Studies and Cultural Studies. Before coming to NUI Galway, she taught German Literature, Language and Culture in Austria and in Spain at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona as ÖAD lecturer and was Research Fellow at the University of Alberta in Canada. Her research is primarily in the area of 20th and 21st century German and English literature, Trauma and Memory studies, Jewish Studies, gender studies and Postcolonial literature. Currently she is investigating Transgenerational trauma and Postmemory for her project. Furthermore she is a member of the GSA (German Studies Association), IVG (International Association of German Studies), the Association of German Studies in Ireland, the Memory Studies Association, the IABA (International AutoBiography Association) and the Auto/Biography Study Group.
