Biography

Dr Anna Hobbins is a health economist, a postdoctoral researcher working on economic evaluation of medical devices at Cúram and  Health Economics & Policy Analysis Centre (HEPAC) NUI Galway. She completed her PhD in Queen’s University Belfast which involved producing the Irish “value set”, “population norms” and the factors underlying heterogeneity in preferences and health as represented using the EQ-5D-5L descriptive system. Anna’s research activity is now focused on the application of the techniques of economic evaluation, including trial-based and decision model-based analysis, and econometrics to inform health policy and healthcare practice. Her work with Cúram focuses on the health economics of medical devices and clinical trial participation research. The output from Anna’s work, which has involved collaboration with colleagues across multiple disciplines, has been published in a range of leading national and international peer-reviewed journals.
