Biography

I was born in Oristano (Italy) in 1989. After high school, I joined University of Cagliari (Italy) in which I obtained my Bachelor (2012) and Master degree (2014) in Environemental Engineering. During my master degreed, I moved to the institute for water education UnescoIHE (Delft, The Netherlands) for 6 months to conduct my master thesis on bioreduction of selenium oxyanions. After my master degree, I join a waste management company for 6 months (Dec 2014 - May 2015) for an internship. In June 2015, I moved to Tampere (Finland) to conduct my PhD studies on biohydrogen and bioelectricity production from sugar containing wastewater, which was part of a Marie Curie European Joint Doctorate on Advanced Biological Waste-to-Energy Technologies. During my PhD, I had two mobility periods, in NUI Galway (Oct 2016 to Mar 2017) and University of Cassino and Southern Lazio (Apr 2017 to July 2017). My PhD thesis was successfully defended on May 23rd 2018. From July 2018, I joined NUI Galway as post-doctoral researcher, under the supervision of prof. Piet Lens. My current research focus in on the application of a biorefinery concept to dairy industries.
