NU6445 (UCD) Specialist Understanding of Complex Care for Children
This module focuses on the central concepts of care that underpin specialist practice in complex care for children and their families. The organisation of health services for this population will be explored, as well as factors influencing care delivery- including the role of technology, the organisation of care services, and issues pertaining to quality care and clinical governance. The module is taught in UCD, Dublin.
Application deadline is 31 October.
This programme is suitable for Registered Nurses, with a qualification in General, Intellectual Disability, Public Health, or Children’s Nursing or Midwifery working with children with complex care needs in an acute or community setting. We also welcome applications from Doctors and Health and Social Care Professionals working in this area.
Students must be currently working with children who have a complex care needs. Completion of a placement in a children’s complex care setting is mandatory during the programme. Placement length will be based on individual students learning needs. Evidence of professional qualifications as well as Manager Support documentation is required when applying for the module. On acceptance, the following are required:
- Garda Vetting
- Certificate of your immunisation status
- Evidence of Children First certification
- Moving and Handling certification
- Signed Confidentiality agreement for Children’s Hospitals Ireland
