NU438 Advanced Wound Care Management
This module aims to provide opportunities to explore wound management in depth to enable critical practice in this specialised area of care. The module can be used as part fulfilment of the MSc/PG Dip Health Science Wound Healing and Tissue Repair. Delivered by national and international experts using blended learning.
Application deadline is the 15th of July.
The module runs over 12 weeks. Starting with an orientation day and having two workshop days (one face-to-face, another a live online)
The module content is delivered by international speakers together with advanced nurse practitioners and other clinicians. Topics will be covered include:
• Wound Prevalence
• Pressure Ulceration
• Wound Infection
• Impact of wounds on the individual
• Wound assessment
• Dressing Selection
• Plastic surgery and wound healing
• Palliative Wound Care
• Venous Leg Ulceration
• Case studies
• Skin Tears
• Diabetic Foot Ulceration
• Decision Making Capacity
• Hydranitis Supprativa
•The assessment methods consist of a combination of blog entries, multiple choice quiz, and an assignment submission.
Study period: Semester 1 commencing September.
Target Market: This module is open to all health care professionals registered with their governing body in Ireland, involved in management of patients with all wound types in all care settings.
Prerequisite
• Applicants must be registered healthcare professionals currently working in an Irish healthcare setting.
• All applicants must have the support of their line manager and be in clinical practice.
