This module covers an introduction to computer hardware, software, operating systems, networks, the internet and WWW and an introduction to the cloud as well as On-premises based computer applications such as MS Office. All tutorials are computer-based.

General Aims: Introduction to computer architecture: hardware, software, operating systems, networks, the Internet, the Cloud and the World Wide Web.

Learning Outcomes: On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
- Describe the fundamental components & functions of the various hardware normally found in computers.
- Identify the various types of computer software; the operating system and application packages.
- Evaluate computer networks for suitability to specific scenarios.
- Differentiate between Cloud services.
- Create presentations using PowerPoint.
- Write reports and rich text in Word
- Conduct spreadsheet analysis using Excel.
