BS1168 Automation 1
Automation is a key competitive resource which enables Western industries to achieve greater productivity and to compete globally on cost. The module begins with an overview of how automation has become important for industry, and the key strategies adopted by industry to deploy automation in order to improve competitiveness. Automation is used to improve a number of key performance indicators.
Application deadline: 25th August
The module describes these in detail, and describes tangible and quantifiable goals for various automation projects. The aim of this module is to give you some important insights into the application of automation in industry. When you have completed this module you should be able to:
- Describe the core elements of automation technology applied in industry.
- Develop mathematical models of industrial performance that can be improved by automation.
- Describe the main principles behind various automation solutions in industry.
- Use analytical methods to size and specify automation solutions in a number of industrial applications.
- Work together as a team to design, program and deploy simple automation devices for storage, transportation and coordination of automated systems.
- Solve problems based on a defined set of requirements for automation in a number of industrial scenarios.
- Integrate some the main automation components and technologies to create automated factories.
